Şafak Müderrisgil

Şafak Müderrisgil is a prominent figure in the field of impact investing, driving innovation and championing technology-based sustainable investments at both national and international levels. She is the founder and chair of Etkiyap, Türkiye’s pioneering impact investing platform, which played a pivotal role in facilitating the country’s first Social Impact Bond targeting youth unemployment. Through Etkiyap, she has spearheaded initiatives offering training, reporting, and mentoring services on Impact Measurement & Management (IMM), solidifying her influence in the field.

Şafak has been instrumental in establishing Türkiye’s impact investing ecosystem. As chair of the National Advisory Board on Impact Investing (EYDK), she leads a coalition of key stakeholders from public, private, nonprofit sectors, and academia, advancing the development of a robust and dynamic impact investing landscape in Türkiye.

With a distinguished background in corporate and energy law, Şafak has advised leading international and national institutions and corporations as a senior attorney and board member. Her expertise, honed during her tenure at White & Case LLP, spans energy, environmental, and corporate law, as well as public policy.

A committed advocate for social and environmental causes, Şafak has been a World Fellow of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Foundation since 2019. She has served on the Advisory Board of Contemporary Turkish Studies at the London School of Economics, as Vice President of the Energy Efficiency Association, and as a board member of the Turkish Football Federation, where she oversaw Law, Sustainability, and Women’s Football. Currently, she serves on the board of the Turkish Education Association (TED), Türkiye’s largest non-governmental organisation dedicated to education. In November 2024, she was elected President of the Turkish Tennis Federation.

Şafak holds an LLB and an LLM in private law from Ankara University and earned a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Oxford. She is also an alumna of Saïd Business School at Oxford and Harvard Kennedy School. Her exceptional leadership has earned her numerous accolades, including being named one of the Top Women in Social Enterprise in 2021 by the European Network for Social Enterprises and Impact-Driven Leaders. In 2023, she was recognised as a Sustainability Leader for her significant contributions to advancing the impact investing ecosystem in Türkiye.
