Building an impact economy in every country
Each country has individual opportunities and realities with significant differences in laws, practices, culture, and in the roles of the state, business and social sector organisations in dealing with society’s problems.
This may affect the form of the impact economy in each country, but always following the guiding principle that it has to serve the wellbeing of all its people and protect its environment.
It is crucial to build the architecture of a new economic system that places social equity and environmental sustainability as its ultimate goal. The current paradigm needs to be replaced everywhere with a new one that reflects the interdependent political, economic, environmental, and social needs of today and tomorrow.
Changing our economic system is complex. We need everyone on board to make it happen. We need to change rules and mindsets, shift power structures, improve information and how it flows. So much needs to happen.
That’s why we and our National Partners are building the infrastructure for change, country by country, inclusive of all players so that together, we can drive significant transformations that will lead us to a brighter future.
Most of the solutions exist, at all levels. In health, education, agriculture, climate, finance, policy, and more. They are already proven. We know what good looks like. We miss implementation, at scale and with urgency. It is time for action.
That’s why, in each country, GSG’s National Partners implement policy changes and financial instruments that will allow for significantly more capital to be invested in opportunities contributing to achieving the SDGs.
Putting the measurement and management of impact at the heart of the economic system, enabling transparency and better decision-making, is essential.
With greater transparency, finance and business can be catalysts for transformation and private capital can be a powerful tool for delivering public good, contributing towards an impact economy.
In 2022 GSG Impact formed the SDG-Driven Tech Innovation Ecosystem consortium, alongside National Partners from Israel, France, Italy and Portugal.
In 2023 consortium partners mapped their own and other European SDG-driven ecosystems, looking at the public, private, and philanthropic actors, resources, and networks that are working to advance SDG-aligned technology.
The aim was to identify best practices and common barriers, for scaling technology for the SDGs domestically and internationally. The findings were published in October 2023 of including a set of recommendations and a mapping methodology for others wishing to undertake the same exercise in their country.

A comprehensive strategy to bridge the SDG funding gap, led by GSG Impact and supported by 50 organisations in 45 countries, focusing on systemic financial reforms, blended finance mechanisms, and empowering local actors in EMDEs.
Solutions for scaling outcomes-based partnerships, addressing institutional and political challenges, and leveraging data for effective social service delivery.
The 2025 Africa Impact Summit will bring together over 500 international delegates and thought leaders, providing both promising and established impact practitioners, fund managers, asset owners and institutional investors with an opportunity to disseminate their work, share ideas and interact with innovators, entrepreneurs, project promoters, multilateral institutions, foundations and policymakers in Africa.
