GSG Impact submits proposal to UN to plug the SDG financing gap
Published 11 December 2024 | Updated 17 December 2024

In a recent interview with Impact Investor, Krisztina Tora, Chief Market Development Officer of GSG Impact, shared insights from GSG Impact's strategic proposal to the United Nations, which aims to address the $4 trillion SDG funding gap. This proposal is being presented ahead of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), scheduled for 30 June—3 July 2025 in Seville, Spain.

More than 50 organisations from 45 countries have contributed to GSG Impact's paper, including GSG Impact’s National and Regional, and global organisations such as 2X Global, the global industry body promoting gender lens investing, the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance, Impact Europe, and Latimpacto.

Tora emphasises the urgency of systemic changes, such as shifting from GDP as a sole measure of success to prioritising wellbeing and SDG impact in public reporting. The proposal also advocates for increased support for locally-led initiatives and innovative de-risking tools, including catalytic capital facilities, to mobilise private capital at scale in emerging markets.

Highlighting the importance of transparency and local ecosystem solutions, Krisztina Tora explains how impactful approaches like impact investment wholesalers and fund of funds can drive sustainable development.
